Project Synopsis

Bloompark Consulting were engaged in 2010 to provide Project Director and Senior Project Management services for the new Technology and Arts precinct at St Josephs College, Hunters Hill. The precinct comprised of TAS, Arts Studios, Digital Studios, General Learning Areas, Seminar rooms, open gallery spaces and multipurpose auditorium. The delivery of this project was via a design and construct contract.

The Bloompark team thrived in servicing the clients core project brief for an exceptional educational outcome, iconic façade and interface for the precinct without any interruptions to the colleges day to day operations as a day and boarding school for 1200 staff and students.

The Technology Arts Precinct was the culmination of 3 years extensive research and design development by the client and consultant team, ensuring a world class and technical superior asset was delivered. The design makes use of natural light to the teaching areas, provides spacious, flexible and dynamic learning areas linking the northern and southern areas of the campus via a central pedestrian route. An onsite detention tank (400,000 ltr) was incorporated into the structure to service the watering of the adjacent fields.

The challenging aspects encountered on this building was the demolition of existing buildings, essential service upgrades, structural underpinning and connection into three existing buildings, façade treatment due to the iconic campus features and the delivery of the project within the schools operations.
