Project Synopsis

The St Joseph’s College Chapel Refurbishment Project, known as “Renovatio”, was awarded to Bloompark in early 2016 for project management services. The project had been previously managed through the concept phase with support from Liturgical and architectural consultants. Since the Chapel’s consecration in 1939, and apart from refurbishment of the iconic stained glass windows, only one previous refurbishment and arrangement of the space had ever been undertaken in 1970.

Due to the destructive nature of rolling out essential services upgrades within this space, the College used the opportunity to remodel the central Apse and Altar areas, whilst providing DDA compliance to all areas. Careful consideration and coordination was required to be sympathetic to the space whilst minimising the impact of required services. Restoration of artwork and statues were also undertaken in parallel to deliver an inspiring place of worship which is at the true heart of the College.
